Download Wine for free. Run Windows applications on Linux, BSD, Solaris, and Mac OS X. Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix. Wine provides both a development toolkit for porting Windows sources to Unix and a program loader, allowing many unmodified Windows binaries to run on x86-based Unixes. Sudo apt-get update. Sudo apt-get install wine. Sudo apt-get install gnome-exe-thumbnailer. We need the latest winetricks utility to help us install components – see notes in appendix 2. Sudo apt-get install winetricks. NOTE: If winetricks tries to install an earlier version of Wine (we need 4.19 or newer), you will need to CANCEL and manually install winetricks following this guide here.
